One such article, which was recently published on March 17th, 2011, by the New York Times. This article was slightly shocking, as they brought to light possible cases of neglect and malnutrition found within the Thoroughbred Retirement Foundation: a previously reputable organization.

This goes to show that by developing a collective resource for facilities to utilize, and perhaps ultimately creating a rating system for them, there is the potential to address and prevent circumstances such as those brought to light in this article.
