Hey everyone! I’m so very grateful for all of the support and interest in what started as a simple interest, and is now a major work in progress. Right now, after securing a job with a very competitive equine veterinary practice, I am working to make what started as an idea in to a reality. In the meantime, as this is coming to fruition, I will be completely overhauling this site, as a vehicle, until the new domain is set up. My goal is to have everything up and running this year!

I am excited for the possibilities that my ideas bring forth in order to assist both the unwanted horse issue and equine rescue facilities- At this time I will be focusing on responding to input from the public and more specifically from that of equine rescue facilities themselves. I’ve done the research on the statistics and technicalities, now I want to go out and visit these facilities, share what works and what doesn’t and get the so-called “real world” perspective on the issue. Anyone can sit down and analyze survey results and develop a plan of action with the right tools: now it is time to focus on the implementation and experience!

Hello Everyone!

After over a year of hard work, my thesis on the unwanted horse issue relative to equine rescue facilities is now complete- and my ideas that were put forth have been picked up by an organization who is willing to put them in to action- VERY exciting, but still many more steps to go!

With all loose ends tied at this point I am offering to distribute copies of my thesis by email request ONLY, as copyrighted PDF file. PLEASE spread the word if you like what you read, or even if you don’t! I would LOVE feedback from any and everyone, and have received many emails over the past few months!

Also, if you are an equine rescue that would like to be involved with putting some of these ideas in to action, get in touch with me! I would love to visit and experience as many facilities as possible, to take a look at operations and see what is working and what could be improved.

came across my research and has taken an interest! After reading her site, and what she does, it is clear that she is invested in the Unwanted Horse Issue, and has a LOT of great information! Check her out on the link above, OR in the “In the News” section!

In other news, the final report of my thesis will be tentatively available by April 30th, 2011. It will/can include the market research study that I completed as Phase I of my thesis in the fall of 2010.

New Articles!

Please check back frequently, as the site is being updated more consistently! I have just added several interesting articles concerning equine rescue facilities to the “In the News” section. One such article, which was recently published on March 17th, 2011, by the New York Times. This article was slightly shocking, as they brought to light possible cases of neglect and malnutrition found within the Thoroughbred Retirement Foundation: a previously reputable organization.

This goes to show that by developing a collective resource for facilities to utilize, and perhaps ultimately creating a rating system for them, there is the potential to address and prevent circumstances such as those brought to light in this article. Rescue Me!

After many months of compiling and researching, it is slowly coming to a close! All of the research that I’ve compiled on equine rescue facilities is culminating in my senior capstone entitled: Rescue Me! A Collective Resource for Equine Rescue Facilities to Enhance Their Business Operations.
